Atlas Lions Abdessamad Ezzalzouli could miss Morocco’s clash against Brazil on June 13 at the 2026 World Cup after sustaining a knee injury during a friendly against Norway.
According to Hesport sources, Ezzalzouli is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks following the injury he picked up in the first half of Sunday’s friendly at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, as both sides prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Initial checks confirmed a right knee ligament injury for Ezzalzouli. He will undergo further tests on Monday to assess the extent of the injury and set up a treatment and recovery plan to help him return to fitness as soon as possible.
Noussair Mazraoui also left the pitch in the 29th minute with a shoulder problem after a physical encounter, raising concerns over his condition.
In post-match comments, Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said he was concerned about the condition of several players following the injuries to Mazraoui and Ezzalzouli. He added that the medical staff will continue to monitor both cases closely.
He stressed that injuries are his main concern at the moment, stressing the need for the squad to be fully ready, both physically and technically, ahead of the tournament.
