Manchester United defender Harry Maguire's omission from the final squad was one of the big surprises, especially considering he featured in both of England's friendlies back in March.
Maguire was a key player during the Gareth Southgate era and helped the Three Lions reach the 2018 World Cup semi-final and 2020 European Championship final.
Real Madrid full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold also failed to make the cut despite getting a good run of games in the last couple months.
Some of the other surprises include Chelsea star Cole Palmer, who scored in the European Championship final two years ago, and Manchester City star Phil Foden.
