Founder and President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Rev Dr Lawrence Tetteh, has made a strong case for the return of Andre Ayew to the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ayew, 36, has been absent from the national team since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cte dIvoire. However, renewed calls for his inclusion have grown following his move to NAC Breda in January, despite the clubs relegation from the Dutch top flight.
Speaking on GTV on Thursday, Rev Dr Tetteh argued that the former Black Stars captain still offers valuable leadership, experience, and influence at a crucial stage of transition for the national team.
He maintained that Ayew remains a model of discipline and commitment, qualities he believes are essential for Ghanas World Cup campaign.
Ayew, meanwhile, endured a difficult end to the season after NAC Breda were relegated from the Eredivisie.
Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to announce a provisional squad before finalising his World Cup list by June 1.
Ghana, preparing for their fifth World Cup appearance in 2026, have been drawn in Group I alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. They will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
