Swedish Allsvenskan side AIK have provided an update on Nigerian youngster Zadok Yohanna following the injury he suffered during their 4-2 defeat to Djurgårdens IF.

The 18-year-old Bauchi-born winger was forced off at half-time after picking up a knock in the first half of the derby clash.

Despite showing his quality before the break, registering an assist, he was unable to continue and was replaced as a precaution.

AIK have now confirmed that Yohanna is undergoing rehabilitation for a muscle injury in the back of his thigh and is currently working indoors under the supervision of the club’s medical team.

In a short statement published on the club’s official website, AIK explained: “Is in rehabilitation for an injury in the back of the thigh. Conducts rehabilitation in the gym.”

The update suggests the club is taking a cautious approach to his recovery, focusing on gym-based rehabilitation to avoid aggravating the issue as the teenager continues his development in Sweden.

Yohanna’s injury initially sparked concern due to his rising influence in the AIK first team and his growing reputation across Europe.

The former Ikon Allah FC player has been one of the standout young performers in the Allsvenskan this season, registering two goals and three assists while continuing to attract interest from several top European clubs.

Despite the setback, early indications from the club’s medical team suggest the injury is being managed carefully and is not expected to be long-term.

His rehabilitation programme will determine when he can return to full training and competitive action.
