FC Barcelona have clinched their 29th LALIGA title after defeating fierce rivals Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clasico on Sunday night.

Fixture: FC Barcelona v Real MadridScore: 2-0 Goalscorers: Rashford (9'), Torres (18')

Los Blancos lost the services of Federico Valverde, who suffered an injury to the head after an altercation with teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni earlier this week, while Barcelona recalled Marcus Rashford to the starting line-up after his big impact off the bench against Osasuna last weekend.

The decision to include Rashford paid off after nine minutes when the Manchester United loanee opened the scoring for the home side with a wonderful free-kick from the edge of the box that sailed into the top corner. The England international has now registered 14 goals and 14 assists for the Blaugrana this season.

Barcelona made the most of their dominant spell and doubled their lead in the 18th minute when Dani Olmo showed great vision to pick out Ferran Torres with a lovely flick, before the Spaniard showed his composure to slot home, leaving the visitors shell-shocked.

Los Blancos struggled to get on the ball in the first half, as the Catalan giants were quite comfortable on the ball and bypassed the visitors' pressing with quite ease while also getting some joy against the highline.

After a disappointing first half, the visitors decided to take the game to the Catalan giants, with Trent Alexander-Arnold using his cross-field passes to unlock the home side's defence on a few occasions.

Unfortunately for the visitors, there would be no consolation goals on the night as coach Alvaro Arbeloa seemingly threw up the white flag by throwing on the youngsters for the final 15 minutes of the encounter. Meanwhile, Barcelona were able to see out the closing stages quite comfortably and held on to secure the win and the title with two games to spare.

Marcus Rashford was rewarded with a start by Hansi Flick and repaid the faith by being a constant threat down the right flank, while also opening the scoring with a superb free-kick.

Ferran Torres remained a constant threat to the Madrid defence throughout the encounter. He linked up well with his fellow teammates and scored his 16th league goal of the campaign.
