Bok aspirations on hold as Lions star faces long road to recovery
Lions loose forward Ruan Venter has undergone successful knee surgery after a serious ACL injury ended his season, putting his Springbok ambitions on hold despite a breakthrough year.
With his star on the rise and talk of a chance at Springbok glory this year, Lions loose forward Ruan Venter’s season unfortunately came to an end against Leinster Rugby two weeks ago.
Venter suffered a serious knee injury, and now back in South Africa, he’s undergone an operation to repair the damage to his ACL, MCL, and meniscus.

Venter took to social media this week and, despite the setback, said he would be back, although a long recovery process lies ahead.
“[I’m] extremely disappointed to end my season like this,” Venter said.
“[It’s] difficult to understand why, but I know that God has a bigger plan.
“Very thankful to have undergone successful surgery, and I can’t wait to get this journey started. This is only the beginning,” he said.
