Botswana international Thabo Motswagole could soon find himself taking the next step in his career, with the player set to be offered to clubs in South Africa following a string of impressive performances for Gaborone United.

The 26-year-old has emerged as one of the standout performers for the Botswana giants and is believed to have caught the attention of scouts from across the border, particularly after helping guide the club to a cup final with a strong display over the weekend.

According to the player’s camp, Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Motsepe Foundation Championship champions Kruger United are among the teams understood to be monitoring the situation closely as interest in the player continues to grow.

“Sundowns and Kruger United are some of the clubs believed to be keeping tabs on Thabo Motswagole from Gaborone United. Motswagole took Gaborone United to the finals, and he delivered a very good performance in their game over the weekend,” the player’s representative said.

Motswagole has been on the books of Gaborone United since 2023 after making the move from fellow Botswana side Masitaoka.

Since arriving at GU, he has steadily built a reputation as a reliable performer, with his consistency and leadership qualities reportedly earning admiration from several interested parties.

While no formal offer has been made at this stage, indications are that the player’s camp is exploring the possibility of a move to South Africa ahead of the new season.

A switch to the PSL would represent a major opportunity for the Botswana international to test himself at a higher level and further grow his profile in the region.

With interest beginning to gather pace, Motswagole’s future could become one to watch in the coming weeks as Mzansi clubs continue monitoring talent from neighbouring countries.
