Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has given details into the recent struggles of defender Khulumane Ndamane.

Ndamane joined Sundowns in January, from TS Galaxy, and it's been a complete turnaround to what he was used to at the Rockets. Sundowns have had a hectic schedule of juggling local and continental football and the games have come with a lot of pressure to deliver.

This, of course, has been a big change for Ndamane, and Cardoso has admitted that the player is tired, not only physically.

Before leaving in January, Ndamane had played 15 matches in all competitions for Galaxy this season. Since joining Sundowns, Ndamane has played 19 matches.

“It’s clear that he is tired. Very clear. He’s not so reactive, not so agile. He’s tired, it’s true. We decided to play him again today, but it’s clear that he is tired. And fatigue is not only physical, it’s also mental. The capacity to make a tactical decision, technical decision sometimes is delayed a little bit," Cardoso told media after their 7-4 victory over Siwelele FC on Saturday.

"Today he missed a pass that gave the goal. He was late on the decision. He could have made it quicker, but that’s probably also from fatigue that is accumulated. We just lost Keanu, Mothobi is still not able to play and we have Kegan and he is a player that we trust.”

Ndamane could be rested when Sundowns take on Galaxy tomorrow, with Kegan Johannes likely to be given an opportunity to play. It's a chance for Sundowns to give Johannes playing minutes ahead of the CAF Champions League final this weekend, with Grant Kekana believed to be unavailable due to suspension.
