Celtic are pursuing a new goalkeeper this summer after a series of issues in the net throughout the 2025-26 campaign.
Kasper Schmeichel is expected to leave Celtic Park in the summer, but was heavily criticised for his performances before his season-ending injury.
While Viljami Sinisalo has put in some decent displays since coming into the starting XI, mistakes continue to be an issue for the Hoops.
Now, according to Sky Sports Austria on 13 May, Celtic are pursuing a deal for Nikolas Polster.
Luckily, all the signs point towards the Wolfsberger AC star being a considerable upgrade for Celtic.
Breaking news on latest signings, departures, and contract news from the Parkhead boardroom.
According to the report, both Wolves and Celtic are chasing Polster ahead of the summer transfer window.
A fee between £1.31million and £1.74m could be demanded for a sale by the Austrian club.
Polster is happy to leave Wolfsberger as he looks to take the next step in his career.
If Celtic were to pull a deal off, he would undoubtedly be a success.
According to Fotmob on 14 May, he is averaging 2.79 saves, 0.12 goals prevented, 0.28 clean sheets and 0.00 errors leading to goals per game in the Austrian Bundesliga.
On top of this, he is also excellent with his feet, having a passing accuracy of 72.9 per cent and a long ball accuracy rate of 42.9 per cent.
Therefore, it appears that Polster could be the perfect Sinisalo upgrade ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are also pursuing Mathew Ryan this summer.
The goalkeeper currently plays for La Liga side Levante, and the Hoops are willing to make him the number one at Celtic Park next season.
The Bhoys have decided that they want another experienced figure to be their first-choice option between the posts next term, and the former Brighton man is seen as an ideal candidate.
Ryan is out of contract at the end of the season, although Levante do have an option to extend his deal by another year.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who Celtic look to bring in to fix their goalkeeping issues for the next campaign.
