Chiefs to tighten contract screws on kingpin
As the 2025/26 season winds down to an end, Kaizer Chiefs have initiated preliminary contract extension talks for one of their top performers.
Kaizer Chiefs will be leaving little to chance with their intentions for next season with the screws to keeping Congolese forward Glody Makabi Lilepo being tightened.
Lilepo’s current deal runs up at the end of June 2027.

This was the contract he signed when he joined in January 2025 from French third division club Valenciennes.
For the first six months, his financial terms were lower compared to what he is now earning in the first of the two years of his current contract.
While he is already on a six-figure net salary and without complaints about what the club has done for him, this website has been told talks have been initiated for an extension.
The fresh deal is a reward for what he has done at the club and will push him higher up the bracket of top earners at the club.
Lilepo has scored eight and provided four assists this term – which is his first full season at Naturena.
Chiefs are happy with what the 28-year-old has given the club and, considering that he can then sign a pre-contract elsewhere in January, have taken the step to tie him down.
All is expected to be sealed before the Congolese heads off for the off-season break.
As an indication of how settled Lilepo is, he has already brought his wife and two kids from France.
So, with his family satisfied with the comforts that they are enjoying at their residence in Johannesburg South and Lilepo without any issues at the Soweto giants, they are keen to remain in South Africa.

This comes amid reports of interest from Libyan club Al-Ittihad.
However, while the Libyans can stretch their budget, it doesn’t appear to be an option that Lilepo will be too keen on for now considering that he is happy at Amakhosi.
