Cristian Chivu insists Inter winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia is ‘never to be taken for granted’ after beating Lazio 2-0 in the Final.
The Nerazzurri ended last season empty-handed and depressed, but Chivu took over from Simone Inzaghi and has steered them to the Double.
Having already won the Serie A title earlier this month, they swept Lazio aside in the Coppa Italia Final this evening at the Stadio Olimpico.
This is the club’s 10th Coppa Italia victory, but the first time they matched it with the Scudetto since Jose Mourinho got the Treble along with the Champions League in 2010.
Chivu was at that time part of the squad and is now the coach.
“Inter won two trophies this season, we deserved them after a good campaign,” Chivu told Sport Mediaset.
“We are all happy for what we overcame in these years, happy for our fans, happy for the club that always showed us support.”
Inter will be able to show off two trophies during Sunday’s open-top bus parade through the streets of Milan, as they’ll receive the Serie A cup after their game against Verona and have the Coppa Italia too.
“We won the League and the Coppa Italia, it is never to be taken for granted, so we’re very happy.”
They had not won this particular competition since 2023 and have now won 10 editions, fewer only than Juventus on 15.
