Danny Rohl will now surely face the sack after the Rangers manager had a bust-up with James Tavernier before their match against Hibernian.

The right-back was due to play in his final game for the Gers as he prepares to depart at the end of the season.

With the match having little meaning for Rangers as the club are already guaranteed to finish third, it was assumed Tavernier would start ahead of what would have been his final appearance at Ibrox.

However, according to The Scottish Sun on 13 May, Rohl and Tavernier had a bust-up pre-match after it was revealed that the captain was not in the starting XI. As a result, the full-back will not attend Wednesday’s game.

With Rohl already under serious pressure, Tavernier may have just got the Rangers manager sacked.

Get the inside track on the Ibrox dugout with real-time updates on shortlist candidates and key boardroom decisions.

Rohl was already an unpopular man at Rangers after overseeing three straight defeats in the Scottish Premiership, which resulted in their title challenge ending in a whimper.

Many fans have been calling him to be sacked, but now any fans defending the manager will surely turn.

While Tavernier has not been great by any stretch of the imagination this season, he is no doubt a Rangers legend and deserved a proper send-off after everything he has done for the club.

For Rohl to snub him of this will be his undoing as it is now impossible for him to win back the support of the Ibrox faithful.

On top of this, many of the players are likely disgusted with this revelation.

Therefore, given all of these factors, a summer sacking is now inevitable.

Former Man United assistant manager Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Rohl could walk away from Rangers this summer.

The manager is reportedly still highly regarded by many clubs and could be a potential target.

Multiple German sides have reportedly shown interest, with Wolfsburg being heavily linked to the manager earlier this month.

However, it remains to be seen if Rohl will be in the Rangers dugout for the start of the 2026-27 campaign, with the pressure on the manager continuing to rise.
