33-time Veikkausliiga champions HJK Helsinki have completed the signing of highly rated Nigerian striker David Temidayo Olorunfemi, beating competition from several Nordic clubs in Denmark and Sweden to secure the 19-year-old forward’s signature in a move that strengthens their attacking options for the future.

The club confirmed the transfer on its official website, announcing that Olorunfemi arrives from his home-based side Tripple 44 Football Academy, where he built a reputation as a powerful, goal-hungry forward with strong physical presence and an eye for goal.

In its official statement, HJK detailed the terms of the deal and the player’s background, saying: “HJK has signed 19-year-old Nigerian striker David Temidayo Olorunfemi. Olorunfemi joins HJK from his home club Tripple 44 Football Academy. His contract runs until the end of the 2027 season and includes an option to extend until the 2028 season.”

Olorunfemi, who arrived in Finland last weekend, has already begun settling into life in Helsinki and has been training with Klubi 04, the club’s reserve side, this week as he adapts to European football for the first time in his career.

Coaches have been working closely with the young forward to help him adjust to the tactical and physical demands of Finnish football, as well as the colder climate and new environment.

The club also confirmed his immediate involvement at reserve level as part of his integration plan, stating: “Olorunfemi will be available for coaching in Klubi 04's home match against KTP on Saturday.”

KTP are expected to provide a competitive test as Olorunfemi continues his transition into Finnish football, with HJK carefully managing his development through gradual exposure rather than immediate first-team pressure.

Olorunfemi’s move marks a significant milestone in his career as he steps into European football for the first time, with growing anticipation around his ability to translate his raw talent into consistent performances and make an impact in the seasons ahead.
