Despite being part of the Inter squad that won the domestic double in 2025-26, centre-back Yann Aurel Bisseck has not done enough to convince Julian Nagelsmann to call him up to the Germany national team squad for the 2026 World Cup.
The 25-year-old defender spoke recently about his ambitions to make the Germany World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament in North America, but he has not been included in Nagelsmann’s final 26-man squad list, which was published on Thursday.
There are no Serie A representatives included in Germany’s 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Opportunities in the Germany national team set-up have been hard to come by for Bisseck, who still has just one cap to his name.
Bisseck made 25 appearances across all competitions for Inter this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists from 22 Serie A outings, and turning out seven times in the Champions League.
“I hope that the success and my performances will be seen in Germany,” Bisseck said in a recent interview with BILD. “It’s my second title in three years and it’s the first time since 2018 that a team has won the double in Italy. Of course that makes me really proud and very happy.”
He later continued:” I’m sure that the national team coach knows what he’s looking for and what he wants to see in his team. I try to do my job as best as possible. I think I’ve done that and that I’ve achieved the maximum with the double in Italy.
“My goal and my dream is to be at the World Cup and wear the Germany shirt. If it works out, I’d be incredibly happy.”
