Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns defender Hilton Jordaan has identified the result against Kaizer Chiefs as having been crucial in maintaining interest in the Betway Premiership title race.
Chiefs held the defending champions to a 1-1 draw at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last Wednesday, preventing Sundowns from opening a bigger gap on second-placed Orlando Pirates heading into the weekend’s fixtures.

The Tshwane giants went on to beat Siwelele FC 7-4 at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday, before The Buccaneers slayed Magesi FC with a 3-0 scoreline at Peter Mokaba Stadium later that day.
“That’s one result that has made the competition more engaging," said Jordaan, speaking to KickOff.
“Both Pirates and Sundowns must win their remaining games to secure the title, which adds to the excitement. If Pirates win both matches, they will clinch the league.
“Currently, Pirates are the favourites, as winning both their fixtures would secure the title. It is now dependent on their performance; they remain in control of their destiny.
“It is important to note that Sundowns have faced a demanding season. Having played in the CAF Champions League and represented the national team, the club has experienced considerable travel and limited rest, which can impact performance.
