A former Chelsea star has questioned the hype surrounding Cole Palmer following his performances for the Blues this season.
Palmer stood in his first campaign for the Blues in the 2023/24 campaign after netting 29 goals and winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The England international's form has dropped off in the past two seasons, including the current campaign where he has netted just 10 goals across all competitions for the Blues.
Former Blues defender William Gallas has questioned why Palmer was labelled one of the best in the league despite being young.
"When you look at the Chelsea defenders, they've let in so many goals. The strikers, they've barely scored any goals," Gallas told BetVictor.
"One player, who I don't want to point out but who hasn't performed well enough, is Cole Palmer. Everyone in England jumped on the hype after one good season, saying he's the best player in the world, but look at him now.
"He's now a big name but he's still so young despite being the Young Player of the Year two years ago."
Palmer will be looking to be at his best when Chelsea take on his former side Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
