Findlay Curtis’ latest impressive showing for Kilmarnock has proved why he must be involved in Danny Rohl’s first-team plans for Rangers next season.
Curtis is nearing the end of a fruitful loan spell at Killie that has seen him emerge as one of the most exciting young wingers in the Premiership.
The 19-year-old’s fine showings have even seem him catapulted into the senior Scotland squad, and he now has a genuine chance of going to the World Cup this summer.
Recent reports have claimed that Rangers are weighing up what to do next with Curtis, and he may still be allowed out on loan once more ahead of next season.
Curtis’ latest showing for Kilmarnock has made it clear why he should not be involved in Rangers’ transfer plans, especially given their poor performances under Rohl in recent weeks.
Breaking news on latest signings, departures, and contract news from the Ibrox boardroom.
Curtis was key to Killie’s vital 3-1 win on home turf against Dundee as they confirmed their place in the Premiership for next season.
The 19-year-old was a thorn in the side of the visitors all evening, with no player on the pitch creating more chances or big chances than him throughout.
He was also close to continuing his fine recent scoring form after netting the opener in the 22nd minute, but the strike was chalked off by VAR for a marginal offside.
Curtis has been vital to Killie’s strong recent form, with three goals in two matches prior to Tuesday’s clash, yet Rangers remain undecided over what to do with him this summer.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Curtis could be sent out on loan again in the upcoming window as the Gers plan to make several attacking signings.
They clearly have to revise their plan for the 19-year-old and include him in Rohl’s plans for next season, as he is in better form than any of Rangers’ current wingers and deserves the chance to prove himself at Ibrox.
Skov Olsen arrived on loan at Rangers from Wolfsburg in January, with an £8m option-to-buy included in the deal.
The Danish winger has struggled to make an impact since the move, however, with one goal and three assists in nine appearances as he was left on the bench for their derby defeat to Celtic on Sunday.
Sources have told Football Insider that Rangers have no plans to buy Skov Olsen and he will return to Germany when the Premiership season ends.
Curtis’ chances of returning to Rangers to be a part of Rohl’s plans should have been boosted by their decision on the Dane, as there will be a spot for another winger to take up in their squad next season.
