Hull City have received confirmation from the English Football League (EFL) that David Akintola’s registration has been approved, making the winger eligible to feature in the Sky Bet Championship playoff final against Middlesbrough.
Hull City requested special dispensation to register Akintola for Saturday’s final at Wembley following Eliot Matazo’s injury.
Matazo is currently recuperating from a cruciate knee ligament injury he picked up last month.
Akintola has now been included in City’s 25-man squad for the clash with Middlesbrough.

The Nigerian winger has not played for the Tigers since coming off the bench for the final 18 minutes of the 2-1 home win over Swansea City back on January 24, having not been registered following the closure of the winter transfer window.
Despite being left out of the squad, the 30-year-old has continued training with Hull City at Cottingham and has also supported his teammates from the stands during matches.
City hoped to have re-registered him earlier in the year after Yu Hirakawa and Toby Collyer picked up serious injuries, though those requests were denied.
Akintola, who joined the Tigers on a two-year deal last summer has registered one goal, and two assists in 20 Championship appearances for the club.
