Orlando Pirates are on the verge of winning their first league title since 2012 if they can get three points from their remaining two games against Durban City and Orbit College FC.

Former Pirates captain and defender Happy Jele has told Soccer Laduma that keeping the core of the squad for the past five years is what has helped the team compete for the league title this season.

“I think the most important thing is the squad. Over the last five years, the squad has been doing well. And they've been playing together for most of these five years. The core of the players is still there, and they've shown with some domestic trophies that they are capable of winning trophies.

“I think it's their time to push until the last one, which is the one that is important in the cabinet of Orlando Pirates, which is the Betway Premiership trophy,” Jele told Soccer Laduma.

After having last won the treble in 2012, Jele is convinced that the buccaneers can claim the league this season again.

“I remember very well, we went to win a double treble and now, if they come back and it's possible to win a treble as well, which at Orlando Pirates, it's something that they're continuously doing most of the time when they win the Betway Premiership.

“So, for me, I think it's good. It's going to rub off everything that we've done before, you know, and I'm very happy for the squad that is playing nowadays because they're playing as a unit. Their commitment is there. They are working hard together. They are showing that they want to represent the badge very well,” Jele told Soccer Laduma.
