Chippa United midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba is believed to be attracting interest ahead of the new season following an impressive return to form during the second half of the campaign.

The former Orlando Pirates player has enjoyed a productive spell since rejoining Chippa in January, contributing six goals and one assist in 14 matches for the Chilli Boys.

According to Siya sources, Kaizer Chiefs were among the clubs that had shown interest in the midfielder earlier in the season, although communication is understood to have gone quiet in recent weeks.

“Look, there was interest from Chiefs but they have since gone quiet. There were enquiries earlier in the season but now that the season is left with only one game, there’s been silence. Maybe he will need to perform really well against them on the weekend and score two goals or something like that for them to come back,” said the source.

The source added that Stellenbosch FC are also believed to be keen on the midfielder, although no decision regarding his future has been made yet.

“There is interest from Stellenbosch but they have been told to wait until the end of the season. He’s done really well for Chippa, which is why he returned to the club, to rediscover his form. But about next season, nothing has been decided as his handlers are weighing up options,” the source added.

Kwayiba’s resurgence has been one of the positives for Chippa in recent months, with the midfielder rediscovering the form that once saw him tipped for bigger things earlier in his career.

With one match remaining in the Betway Premiership season, the midfielder could still have an opportunity to further boost his stock before decisions are made regarding his future.
