Former Kaizer Chiefs right-back Isaac Mabotsa has weighed in on the performance of the club's left-bsck Paseka Mako since joining from rivals Orlando Pirates at the beginning of the season.
Mako has struggled to nail down a position in the Amakhosi starting line-up as he is often found wanting during crucial defending periods, including hesitation in passing the ball to teammates, as well as defensive positioning issues, unlike his former Pirates teammate Thabiso Monyane who is knocking on the door of Bafana Bafana World Cup squad. Mako has faced challenges in his transition from Pirates to Chiefs.

Mako has made 11 league appearances for Chiefs this season. He suffered an arm injury shortly after joining in 2025, though he did recover at the end.
"Looking at his situation at the moment I don't think he has done enough, that's my opinion," Mabotsa tells KickOff.
"If you remember well, at the beginning of the season he was the first option at the left-back position, and the way things are right now I don't think he impressed the technical team, seems Bradley Cross is being preferred now.
"So I don't think Mako he has done enough to be even in the first eleven. Now it's up to the technical team whether they keep him or not, because he was brought to Kaizer Chiefs for his experience, but for me so far he has not done enough because he is not playing.

"Compared to Thabiso Monyane, I don't think Mako is bringing the input that was expected from him. And on the other side Monyane is a marvel to watch, I believe he deserves to be in the national team.
"Mako his performance is below bar, he is no longer giving the performance he used to give at Orlando Pirates."
