Manchester City will earn more than £2million in prize money if they can secure a victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

Pep Guardiola’s side are set to take on the Blues at Wembley on Saturday (16 May) as they look to claim their second trophy of the campaign, having already won the Carabao Cup.

Man City booked their place in the final following a late comeback victory over Southampton in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea narrowly saw off Leeds United in the previous round, handing them the chance to secure Europa League qualification with a win this weekend.

Chelsea and Man City have already banked significant prize money from the competition, but getting their hands on the FA Cup trophy will more than double their earnings.

Inside the transfer budget, CFG investment, 115 charges updates, and the latest North Stand expansion news.

Alongside Southampton, Man City have beaten Exeter City, Salford City, Newcastle United and Liverpool en route to the final.

Meanwhile, Chelsea overcame Charlton Athletic, Hull City, Wrexham, Port Vale and Leeds to book their place in the Wembley showdown.

As per official FA documents, both sides have landed £2m in prize money after making it through five rounds to reach the final, including £1.1m for their semi-final victories alone.

If they can claim the trophy this weekend, that will add a further £2.1m to their total, taking their overall earnings to £4.1m.

There is also a £1.1m payout for the runner-up as a reward for reaching the final.

This will be the fourth FA Cup final in a row Man City have featured in, but their last victory came in 2023, having suffered defeats against Manchester United and Crystal Palace over the past two years.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s latest appearance in the showpiece event came in 2022 when they were beaten on penalties by Liverpool.

Elsewhere domestically, Man City remain in the Premier League title race following their convincing 3-0 victory over Palace on Wednesday (13 May).

That result takes Guardiola’s side within two points of league leaders Arsenal heading into the final two games of the season.

In terms of Chelsea, their form has been incredibly poor over the past few weeks, having won just one of their past six games in all competitions.

The Blues have slipped to ninth in the Premier League table, with Champions League qualification now only possible if they finish sixth and Aston Villa win the Europa League.

However, a victory over Man City in the FA Cup final will secure them Europa League football for next season.
