Salim Adams made an encouraging debut for Ghana in Saturdays international friendly against Mexico as the Black Stars continued preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat to the World Cup hosts at the Estadio Cuauhtmoc, but Adams emerged as one of the positives from the encounter following an impressive cameo appearance.

The Medeama SC midfielder came on as a second-half substitute for Emmanuel Agyei in the 76th minute and immediately showed composure and confidence in midfield despite the difficult circumstances.

Adams performance is expected to strengthen his case for a place in Ghanas final squad for the World Cup, with head coach Carlos Queiroz set to announce his final selection after the upcoming friendly against Wales.

The midfielder has enjoyed an outstanding campaign at club level, playing a key role in guiding Medeama to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title.

His consistent displays throughout the season earned him a first senior national team call-up, and he appears determined to seize the opportunity.

With competition for places intensifying ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Adams debut performance could not have come at a better time as he pushes to secure a spot on footballs biggest stage.
