Mika Godts could be about to force a move to Newcastle United following a fantastic 2025-26 campaign at Ajax.

The 20-year-old winger is strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer, and with 17 goals and 14 assists in 41 games, the Magpies are unlikely to be the only club vying for his signature.

While it has been a fantastic season for the winger, personally, Ajax have struggled, currently sitting fifth in Eredivisie, with a very real chance of only playing Europa Conference League football next season.

A move to the Premier League already appeared to be on the cards for the young attacker, but those chances have now increased significantly after the latest snub away from the Johan Cruyff Arena.

🔄 Newcastle Transfer Update 🔄

Breaking news on deals in progress, signings, departures, and contract news from the Newcastle United boardroom.

Rudi Garcia has released his final selection for Belgium’s 2026 World Cup squad, including the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Thibaut Courtois.

However, it doesn’t include Ajax’s superstar Godts, despite being called up during the previous international break and even playing both friendly fixtures against the USA and Mexico.

With three goals and three assists in his last five appearances, no call-up for the World Cup will make very little sense to the in-form attacker, who clearly deserves a chance on the international stage.

That heartbreak could force Godts to seek a move to England this summer, and the Magpies need to be at the front of the queue for the 20-year-old’s signature, ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Eddie Howe will also be desperate for Godts to make the switch, with Anthony Gordon edging ever-closer to a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

Recent reports suggest that the England international has already come to an agreement with the Bundesliga giants, but the main hurdle is Newcastle’s current asking price.

Vincent Kompany’s side want to drop the transfer fee by around £20million, which would be a huge blow to Newcastle’s finances, but it would help get a deal done much quicker.

The domino effect would emerge from there, with the money earned from Gordon’s departure being able to be spent on Godts’ signature, beating a whole host of clubs to his signature.
