Milan defender Fikayo Tomori is expected to miss out on the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, along with Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Phil Foden.
The final list is set to be announced by manager Thomas Tuchel on Friday May 22, cutting down the 55-man preliminary group to just 26 names.
Manchester United defender Maguire confirmed today that he has not made the cut, noting on social media that he was “shocked and gutted” at the decision.
While Maguire and Tomori have often been in contention for the same spot, it looks as if both of them are going to be left out this time, according to BBC Sport.
Milan centre-back Tomori had hoped to get the nod after starting the 1-1 friendly draw with Uruguay on March 27.
That was his sixth senior cap for England, the first since November 2023.
He made the move to Serie A in 2021 from Chelsea for a transfer fee of nearly €36m and has been a regular in the starting XI for the Rossoneri.
Others left at home include Manchester United’s Shaw and Foden of Manchester City, but Newcastle United veteran Dan Burn does get a call-up at age 34.
