Morocco’s under-17 national team drew 1-1 with Tunisia in their opening match of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations on Wednesday at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
Tunisia struck first, with Yahia Jlidi scoring in the 28th minute after capitalizing on an attacking opportunity to give the visitors a halftime lead.
Morocco increased pressure after the break and eventually found the equalizer in the 76th minute through Elian Hdidou, who finished a well-placed assist from teammate Ismail Al-Aoud.
In the closing stages, the hosts pushed forward in search of a winning goal, but Tunisia’s defense held firm to secure a point.
Following the draw, Morocco and Tunisia share top position in Group A with one point each, alongside Egypt and Ethiopia, who also remain in contention after their opening fixtures.
The tournament is being hosted in Morocco.
