Motale predicts heartbreak for Sundowns despite TS Galaxy match

A former Mamelodi Sundowns defender has revealed why Miguel Cardoso’s charges have a mountain to climb in the race for Betway Premiership title honours.

Sundowns play their last game of the domestic season against TS Galaxy FC at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday.

They top the standings on 68 points, three more than those collected by second-placed Orlando Pirates, who still have two games to negotiate.

"Sundowns will win against TS Galaxy, but the sad part is that they will not win the league this season," admits Japie Motale, talking to KickOff.

"I'm saying this because I don't think both Sundowns and Pirates will lose any of their remaining games, to be honest. It's a pity they (Sundowns) will never match the goals."

Motale adds that he doesn't see Sundowns scoring as many goals as they did in their last game against Siwelele FC.

"Both teams are on form, so it's not possible for any of them to drop points at the moment.

"The reason they conceded so much against Siwelele is because they concentrated too much on scoring and left their defense vulnerable," averred the former defender.

“Credit must go to the Siwelele coach Lehlohonolo [Seema] who noticed that Aubrey Modiba and Khuliso Mudau were always pushing up," he adds.

Responding to questions from journalists after the match, Lehlohonolo Seema admitted that the scoreline was hard to associate with his charges.

Siwelele were on a five-game unbeaten run before the encounter and had established themselves as one of the toughest teams to score against in the division.

"It was a good game for the supporters to watch, but for us coaches, it’s not that good. It’s not the kind of game you want, to see your team conceding a lot of goals," he said.
