OFFICIAL: Another Bafana hopeful wins European league title

Bafana Bafana 2026 FIFA World Cup hopeful Gift Links has won the Danish Superliga just days after being nominated for the 2025/26 Player of the Season award.

Links’ club, Aarhus GF, clinched the Danish Superliga title with one match to spare following their victory over Brondby IF on Sunday.

The South African star will now go down in the club’s history, having played a vital role in the generation that secured Aarhus’ first Danish Superliga title since the 1985/86 season.

Links’ performances recently earned him a place among the eight nominees for the 2025/26 Player of the Season award.

Remarkably, he is one of only two players from title-winning Aarhus GF to receive a nomination for the award.

Links joins former FC Copenhagen striker Sibusiso Zuma among the South Africans to have won Denmark’s top flight.

Primarily deployed as a wing-back, Links has already made 37 appearances this season, registering five goals and seven assists, according to Transfermarkt.

Later this week, Hugo Broos is expected to name his provisional Bafana Bafana squad for the World Cup, and it remains to be seen whether Links will receive an elusive call-up.
