Fixture: FC Barcelona v Real MadridScore: 2-0 Goalscorers: Rashford (9'), Torres (18')
With the title lying and wait, the Blaugrana knew a victory over Los Blancos would not only extend their winning run but give them the title with two matches to spare as the visitors come off a turbulent week, which included among their players.
Real didn’t enjoy a good start and were put on the back-foot in the opening ten minutes when Marcus Rashford lined-up on the edge of the area for a free-kick and curled into the top corner.
The lead was extended eight minutes later after Dani Olmo made a blind run in the area and applied a back-heel pass to the on-rushing Ferran Torres to run inside and fire past goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
However, the visiting team were not entirely out of it and gradually came into their own afterwards and they nearly halved the deficit when Gonzalo Garcia’s snap shot arrowed into the side-netting.
Soon at the other end, Barcelona enjoyed another opening and opportunity to add to their cushion as Rashford raced down the right-side into the area and fired towards the bottom-corner, but Courtois tipped the effort behind for a corner-kick.
Madrid remained on the back-foot ten minutes into the second half and were sliced open again as Torres came in on the near side to go in for his second goal on the night, but Courtois once again came out on top to make a good stop.
Los Blancos looked to have pulled one back during the midway point of the second half through a close-range finish by Jude Bellingham, but it was called back and disallowed for offside.
Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick decided to refresh his stall at the same time as Rashford came off for Raphinha before Frenkie De Jong stepped on the park ahead of Olmo.
Madrid were under more pressure in the final minutes and conceded another chance when veteran striker Robert Lewandowski took a low pass from De Jong in his stride and fired in a shot, but the Polish striker was unable to beat Courtois.
With no late drama and additional time provided, the Blaugrana walked off victorious and claimed the Spanish league title for the second season in a row.
