Orlando Pirates' next generation of stars received high praise on Saturday after the club's reserve side made history by clinching their first-ever DStv Diski Challenge title in style.

The Buccaneers' youngsters rose to the occasion in a high-stakes title decider against Mamelodi Sundowns at Dobsonville Stadium, producing a commanding 2-0 victory to officially crown themselves champions of the 2025/26 DDC season.

In doing so, the Class of 2026 etched their names into club history as the first Orlando Pirates reserve team to lift the Diski Challenge trophy, ending the campaign at the top of the standings with a remarkable 75 points.

The title-clinching victory marked their 24th win of an outstanding season and unfolded in front of an electric Soweto crowd that brought the atmosphere expected of a major Buccaneers occasion.

The celebrations quickly extended beyond the pitch. First-team head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou took to Instagram to congratulate the young Buccaneers and their technical team, proudly acknowledging the achievement shortly before his senior side secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Magesi FC later that evening.

"Congratulations, boys and technical staff. PROUD OF YOU," wrote Ouaddou in praise of coach Roscoe Krieling and his title-winning squad.

Adding to the emotional scenes at Dobsonville was Pirates legend and former captain Lucky Lekgwathi, who was spotted celebrating among supporters in the stands.

The former defender fully embraced the spirit of the occasion, proudly wearing the Buccaneers badge painted on his cheek while joining fans in singing the popular "Sekusele Kancane" gwijo throughout the celebrations.

In another moment that quickly caught supporters' attention online, Lekgwathi was seen holding a fan-made placard boldly declaring: "The League belongs to Orlando Pirates."
