TS Galaxy head coach Bernard Parker said that they had to tap into the players mentality to deal with big match temperament against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Rockets dented Sundowns' chances to defend their Betway Premiership League after claiming a 3-2 victory at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night.

The win has also secured the Rockets' top-flight status with one game left in the Premiership campaign.

"For us when I took over with the blessing of the Chairman was for us was to make sure that we get the players back to their best in such a short space of time we've managed to do a great job and for us to win this game such a massive game here at home and it's our last game here at home it is something back, it is also a calling as well that we've got what it takes and we can attract more support year at Mbombela Stadium, but the most important thing that we have done is that we tap into the players' mentality in terms of psyching them up psychologically, making them feel more important again, making them believe in themselves again," Parker observed.

The former Bafana Bafana striker further stated that it was unfortunate that they lost the Nedbank Cup.

"It's just unfortunate that we lost the final. But if the final would have come this week, it would have been a different story and also not having time as well because it was just matches back to back in terms of preparation as well, but the good thing is that we brought in youngsters into the squad. We brought in more hungry players just to bring the regular players that were playing, you know, back to their senses that competition is real and real stuff in this team as well. "

"So after tonight's win, we showed that we are a Galaxy. We showed that we've got what it takes in terms of competing in the Betway Premiership and it's a massive boost for us to go into our last match which will be against Golden Arrows as well but it was just really important for us to work more on the players' mental part," Parker concluded.

The Rockets will lock horns with Golden Arrows on 23 May at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium to conclude their campaign.
