Real Madrid concluded their LALIGA campaign with a 4-2 win over Athletic Bilbao 4-2 on Saturday night.
After losing out on the title and finish the season yet again without silverware, Los Blancos were keen to finish on a high and build on their last two wins over Real Oviedo and Sevilla, while Bilbao were on a run of three matches in the league without a victory.
Los Blancos hit the front in the 11th minute when Gonzalo Garcia took an expertly delivered long pass from the right by Dani Carvajal in his stride and finished first-time.
Jude Bellingham doubled the lead five minutes ahead of the interval after he came in on the inside of the area and powered in the top- corner with the assist from Thiago Pitarch.
Bilbao pulled one back right on the cusp of the break through a well-taken volley by Gorka Guruzeta, but Madrid restored their two-goal cushion five minutes after halftime when Kylian Mbappe came short to the area and curled in the bottom-corner.
Madrid were not done and bagged a fourth late on after Brahim Diaz finished from the centre of the defence following a late run, but the visitors snatched a second in additional time through Urko Izeta, although the host secured victory.
The Santiago Bernabeu also bid farewell to Carvajal and David Alaba, who will be leaving the club next month.
Champions FC Barcelona ended their campaign with a 3-1 loss to Valencia in their final clash at the Mestalla on Saturday evening.
With the title long confirmed, the Blaugrana had nothing to play for but still looked to end the season positively against Los Che who chased victory to finish the campaign in a respectable position.
After a goalless first period, the LaLiga champions got their noses in front as a snap shot in the box by Ferran Torres ricochet off veteran striker Robert Lewandowski in the 61st minute and bulged the back of the net.
Barcelona’s lead ended six minutes later when Javi Guerra made a forward run to the area from deep and nestled into the top corner, giving Wojciech Szczesny no chance.
Los Che were in dream land and raced in front in the final 20 minutes after Luis Rioja came in on the far side and side-stepped one challenge to fire in the near corner.
The Blaugrana conceded another goal in stoppage time when Guido Rodriguez latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the area and fired in the bottom-corner, sealing the victory.
