There are reports Inter could hand the gloves to Josep Martinez as the heir to Yann Sommer, but bring in Kepa Arrizabalaga from Arsenal as his understudy.

The Nerazzurri are looking for their next goalkeeper after Sommer walks away this summer, and the plan had been to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the steep asking price and the impressive performances of Martinez have prompted a rethink in the Inter camp.

There had already been suggestions that Martinez could be given the gloves and a more prominent role next season, despite making only 10 competitive appearances this term.

Now La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the idea would be to provide him with an experienced understudy who can help guide the 27-year-old former Genoa shot-stopper.

The name they mention is Kepa Arrizabalaga, who at 31 has seen a lot more of world football, but is also content to be a back-up.

This is the role he had with Arsenal this season, having just 11 games after his €5.8m transfer from Chelsea.

His CV is enviable with two Champions League trophies, the Europa League, a Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Premier League, LaLiga and Spanish Super Cup.
