Thiago Silva is a free agent after leaving FC Porto, but it’s reported Milan have offered him a new contract ahead of his 42nd birthday, with a Chelsea managerial proposal too.
The Brazilian is of course no stranger to San Siro, having played there from 2009 to 2012.
He was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for €42m, then moved on to Chelsea, Fluminense and in January returned to Europa as a free agent for FC Porto.
It was announced today that his contract will not be renewed, so he is available again from June 30 and might not necessarily be hanging up his boots yet, despite the fact he is set to turn 42 in September.
The Brazilian made 14 appearances this term, starting 12 of them.
According to ESPN Brazil, Milan have made an offer for a new one-year contract for his return to the Rossoneri after 14 years.
It isn’t entirely surprising, considering they had also made an approach in January.
There is another alternative that might be more tempting, which is to retire and begin working in the Chelsea youth academy.
It would allow him to start his post-playing career as a coach at a club he also knows well thanks to four years there from 2020 to 2024.
