Rangers are interested in signing Plymouth Argyle striker Lorent Tolaj this summer as the League One side prepare to be forced into a sale.
Tolaj scored regularly for the English third-tier side throughout their 2025-26 campaign, but was unable to fire them to promotion as they missed out on a playoff place by two points.
He is attracting widespread interest from English second-tier sides, with Celtic also keeping tabs on his availability after being linked in January.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Rangers have joined the race for his services and Plymouth are expected to sell to the highest bidder this summer.
Rangers’ transfer plans are taking shape as the end of the season looms, with Danny Rohl keen to oversee an influx of new signings so he can mould the squad to his liking.

Tolaj ended the League One campaign in red-hot form as he registered six goals and four assists in Plymouth’s final eight games.
Sheffield United, Derby County, Stoke City and Preston North End are among the clubs credited with an interest in the 24-year-old, with Rangers also taking note of his stellar recent showings.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I think there’ll be a lot of interest in Tolaj this summer. He was linked with Celtic in the January window, but nothing came of that.
“He’s been outstanding for Plymouth this season, 21 goals and eight assists and 35 appearances. Obviously they just missed out on securing a playoff place in League One as well, so they’re going to find it very hard to keep hold of their star player.
“I would imagine they’re probably bracing themselves for a lot of interest and offers for the Swiss striker. Rangers are looking to bolster their forward line. Tolaj could be a good fit for them.”
Rohl’s previous experience as a manager in the EFL is likely to see Rangers linked with similar targets to Championship clubs.
Tolaj is one of those, while sources have told Football Insider that Championship clubs have joined Rangers in the race for Stephenson after his impressive loan spell at Dundee United.
The Liverpool youngster registered five goals and assists each in 29 Premiership appearances from right wing-back before his season was curtailed by a hamstring injury last month.
