Jonathan Rowe impressed for Bologna against Aston Villa, and now the Europa League winners want him for next season, claims Telegraph Sport.
The only three games that Bologna lost in the entire Europa League campaign were to the eventual victors, who lifted the trophy in Istanbul last night after beating SC Freiburg 3-0.
That success also means that Villa have qualified for the Champions League next term and are ready to invest heavily to reinforce Unai Emery’s squad.
According to Telegraph Sport, one of their primary targets for the summer is Bologna winger Rowe.
An England Under-21 international who turned 23 in April, he came to the Stadio Dall’Ara in late August at a cost of €17m plus add-ons, including a 10 per cent cut of the future sale.
His departure from Olympique Marseille was because of a locker room brawl with teammate Adrien Rabiot, which saw both of them sold to Serie A clubs, the France international going to Milan.
Rowe is a product of the Norwich City youth academy and made the switch to Marseille in 2024.
He scored eight goals with five assists in 42 competitive games for Bologna this season, but doesn’t have the best relationship with coach Vincenzo Italiano.
They have often expressed frustration with each other, the player at being benched, the coach at how Rowe doesn’t have the same intensity in training that he does in a match situation.
If Aston Villa do want to secure Rowe, then it will cost them in the region of €40m.
