Aarhus faced Brondby, knowing a win would be enough to secure the title following Midtjylland's 0-0 draw to Nordsjaelland.

Aarhus made a bright start to the game as early as the 3rd minute when Gift Links whipped in a corner that found Henrik Dalsgaard, who found the back of the net.

Despite Brondby's efforts to get back into the game, it was Aarhus who doubled their lead when Kevin Yakob netted in the 26th minute to ensure AGF entered the break with a two-goal advantage.

That was how the game ended, and the result ensured Aarhus claimed its first league title since 1986, ending a 40-year wait.

Links spoke to Danish outlet Sport TV2 after the game, and the South African was overjoyed with his accomplishment, having played a starring role for his team this season./

"To be honest, I think I will need a few days for it to sink in, because it's something unbelievable what we did today," the 27-year-old explained.

"Not too many believed that we would come to Brondby and win the title here but we came here, and we did, and many thanks to our incredible fans for coming out, not only for today, because every season they have been doing this and I think they deserve it," he added.

Speaking about his own experiences, Links was excited to see the fans celebrate their first title since he joined the side, having previously come closest with a runner-up finish in the Danish Cup in 2023/24.

"It makes me happy," he explained. "I've been here seven years, the ups and downs we've been through, this is the first time I've seen them so happy, and I think they deserve it, because we've been through so much. They've been patient with us, their support never stopped," he continued.

This has been a memorable season for the former Cape Town City man. In 31 league games, Links netted three times and added six assists for his most productive season since moving to the club in 2019.
