Sources: Newcastle to block Aston Villa move after what Eddie Howe has seen

Will Osula is not set to be sold by Newcastle United this summer despite interest from Aston Villa after forcing his way into Eddie Howe’s starting eleven.

Osula started this season as a backup striker to Nick Woltemade, but has ended it as Howe’s go-to for goals up front.

The Dane has netted five times in his last six Premier League appearances to boost interest in his services ahead of the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa are keen, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, his fine recent form means that Newcastle have no plans to sell Osula this summer.

Newcastle’s transfer dealings could see numerous big-name players leave St James’ Park, hence why they are determined to keep hold of Osula and his lofty potential.

Osula could have left Newcastle last summer, after Eintracht Frankfurt saw a bid to sign him on loan with a £28.5million option-to-buy rejected by Newcastle on Deadline Day.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Osula is happy to stay on Tyneside after his recent run in the side, with the club now deciding to keep him despite widespread interest in his services.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It’s going to be very difficult for Aston Villa or anybody else to get him out now.

“You’d probably say Osula is the first choice striker for Eddie Howe now. As of right now, I don’t think Newcastle will even be considering letting Osula go.

“He’s still only 22, under contract until 2029 as well. Newcastle are very happy with Osula’s progress.

“I think you’ve got to take your hat off to Osula and say he’s worked hard and now getting the rewards, and I’m sure Newcastle right now have no plans to lose him.”

Newcastle are in the market for a new striker to compete with Osula and Woltemade for next season, with Yoane Wissa set to leave if they receive a suitable offer.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle are eyeing Bowen ahead of the summer window, as he could leave West Ham this summer if they are relegated.
