Sources: Will Osula makes decision on his Newcastle future amid European transfer interest

Will Osula is attracting attention from several Premier League clubs ahead of the summer window but is keen to stay at Newcastle United after his recent run in the team.

Osula was handed a fifth successive start up front on Sunday as Newcastle played out a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

The Dane has scored three goals across those five outings and recent reports have stated that numerous clubs in the Premier League and across Europe are keeping tabs on his progress.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Osula has no plans to leave St James’ Park as it stands, despite widespread interest in his services.

A new striker is on Newcastle’s transfer shortlist, however, with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa each facing uncertain futures after tough spells in front of goal.

Interest in Osula’s services is nothing new, after Eintracht Frankfurt saw a bid to sign him on loan with a £28.5million option-to-buy rejected by Newcastle on Deadline Day last summer.

Aston Villa, Everton and Bayer Leverkusen have also been closely linked to his services, but he looks set to keep his place in Eddie Howe’s side until the season ends and wants to stay on Tyneside as a result of his trust.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “If (Osula) is scoring goals and playing regularly for Newcastle, I’m sure he’d be more than happy to stay.

“He’s under contract until 2029, but I’m sure his form and performances will ensure that other clubs are looking at him.

“He’s doing everything he can to try and impress Eddie Howe and (to prove to) everybody at Newcastle that he could be the answer to their goalscoring problems.”

Newcastle are prioritising a new striker signing this summer despite Osula’s strong recent form.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Al-Hilal striker Nunez is on Newcastle’s shortlist as he prepares to leave the Saudi Pro League in the coming months.

The former Liverpool star has scored nine goals in 24 appearances for Al-Hilal this season, but has fallen well out of favour and last featured for his club on 16 February.

His contract is due to be ripped up soon, but the Magpies are set to face competition for his signature from Chelsea and Juventus.
