Celtic face strong competition for Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh this summer as the race for his signature heats up, sources have told Football Insider.
Hogh scored five goals in five successive Champions League appearances earlier this year to help fire Bodo to an unprecedented place in the round of 16.
Celtic were linked to his services during the January window, but they failed in an approach to sign the 25-year-old due to Bodo’s European exploits.
They remain interested in Hogh ahead of the summer, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, a move looks increasingly unlikely to happen due to Bodo’s plan to keep hold of him and the amount of sides in the race for his signature.
Celtic’s transfer plans have been boosted by their official qualification for the UCL, but Hogh looks destined for a bigger move.
Breaking news on latest signings, departures, and contract news from the Parkhead boardroom.
Hogh scored 17 goals in 28 Eliteserien games during Bodo’s 2025 campaign, while he netted six goals in 14 Champions League appearances to help fire them to the round of 16.
Celtic face an uphill battle to sign him in the summer due to his European heroics, with several top clubs across the continent reportedly keeping tabs on his availability.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “He’s under a contract at Bodo until 2029 and the Norwegian club are under no real pressure to sell Hogh now because they enjoyed such a successful run in the Champions League.
“It has really boosted their financial coffers, and they will be looking to have another crack at the Champions League next season as well, so will want to keep hold of Hogh for that.
“It’s going to be a difficult one for Celtic to do due to the price tag and I think because of what he did in Europe last season with Bodo/Glimt in big wins against the likes of Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.
“A lot of clubs across Europe will be looking at Hogh, and if there’s any opportunity that he could leave Bodo, I’m sure there’ll be clubs in some of those top leagues who’d be ready to rival Celtic for his signature.”
Maeda’s outstanding recent performances since the Premiership fixture split have fired Celtic firmly into title contention.

The 28-year-old has six goals and one assist in his last four league outings, and is widely expected to move on this summer.
Sources have told Football Insider that Premier League clubs are interested in Maeda amid his standout post-split form.
He recently revealed to Japanese media that a move to the English top flight would be “a dream”, and Celtic are not expected to stand in the way of his departure despite a struggle to sign Hogh.
