Wydad beat Raja 1-0 in closed door Casablanca derby

Wydad AC defeated rivals Raja Club Athletic 1-0 on Saturday in the Casablanca derby played behind closed doors as part of the 20th round of the Botola Pro Inwi.

The match’s only goal was scored by Joseph Bakasu in the 39th minute, giving Wydad a crucial victory in the race for the top positions of the Moroccan league table.

Despite the defeat, Raja remain top of the standings with 39 points, though only one point ahead of Maghreb de Fes and two ahead of AS FAR, both of whom still have a game in hand.

Wydad moved into fourth place with 37 points, tightening the battle near the top of the table with several rounds remaining in the season.

The derby was held without supporters amid ongoing restrictions and security measures surrounding high risk fixtures in Moroccan football.
