Fulham are focusing on improving the matchday experience for supporters who can spend more at Craven Cottage.

That is according to former Everton chief Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, after Fulham confirmed season ticket prices would be increasing.

Season ticket prices will increase by 3.5% at Fulham next season, following the path of many of their Premier League rivals in a bid to raise more revenue.

Whilst Fulham have redeveloped the Riverside stand, supporters in other areas of the ground believe that the matchday experience at Craven Cottage has not improved.

The Cottagers have been a stable mid-table Premier League club in recent seasons, and will be looking to close the gap on the European places in the next few years.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Fulham are keeping “the top 10% of fans” happy, rather than the “average” supporter.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks that the club need to be just as “innovative” to keep their core support base on side.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’m seeing a lot of realignment in the way things are packaged, in that Fulham are really trying harder to put VIP packages together.

“They are really going for that top 10 per cent of fans who can afford to spend more and crave that sort of, the money-can’t-buy sorts of experiences. So I’m seeing innovative ways there.

“But for the average fan, we’re getting near the top. Clubs are aware of that, and they’ve got to be very innovative in the way they try and do this.”

Fulham midfielder Harry Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season, and Aston Villa have been one club linked with picking up the 29-year-old as a free agent this summer.

Whilst Wilson has been a standout performer for Marco Silva’s side, his form has dipped in recent matches.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Aston Villa are concerned about Wilson’s recent displays, and they could now have reservations about signing the Welshman.

A switch to Villa Park is therefore not a guarantee for Wilson, but he is sure to have other clubs interested in his signature.
