AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane has responded to critics, having guided the Durban-based outfit from the relegation zone into a competitive top-four side.

Usuthu are fourth on the Betway Premiership log table with two matches left to play. The Durban outfit will be looking to secure a top-four finish, with Kaizer Chiefs having secured their spot in third, while Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates battle it out for the first and second positions.

The current log standing is a far cry from a side that was languishing in 15th position when Zwane took over as co-head coach in 2024.

Although a return to continental football is now out of reach, at least as far as next season is concerned, Zwane insists it is one more goal he will achieve.

Speaking to media after a recent 1-1 draw against Lamontville Golden Arrows, the retired wing wizard sent a reminder to the critics of his journey in perseverance and overcoming adversity.

"You guys think I’m crazy," Zwane told journalists.

"You know I’ve always been a winner. I don’t compromise, and sometimes when I talk, people think I’m dreaming. But I’ve always been a dreamer. Whenever I dream, I make sure it becomes a reality. That’s who I am."

"When I became a coach, no one thought I’d ever make it to this level as a PSL coach. Even when I started as a professional player, no one gave me a chance. Back then, I played alongside some of the best, top players of my generation - and people doubted me.

"They thought if I didn’t make it at Orlando Pirates, I wouldn’t make it anywhere. But I proved them wrong.

"Personally, I’ve always been a fighter. I might take longer than expected to achieve my goals, but I always get there. That’s my mindset."
