Zwane: Chiefs are a difficult team

AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane believes that they deserved to get a draw against Kaizer Chiefs in their penultimate clash of the Betway Premiership season on Saturday afternoon.

Usuthu, whose third-place pursuit officially ended last Sunday, made a strong start to the match and looked to halt run of back-to-back draws to cement fourth- place.

However, a strike in the second half by Glodly Lilepo ensured maximum points for the Amakhosi and the home team walked away empty handed as Zwane rued their miss chances throughout the course of the match.

“Look, I think we deserved at least a draw, we had more clear-cut chances than them, they had half-chances. If you don’t take your chances, I think we were the first to create chances in the game and we couldn’t take it,” Zwane told SuperSport TV post-match.

“Obviously, as the game progressed, we gained momentum but we still waited for the right moments and we had a lot of turnovers, they were playing where we wanted them to play, if we were just decisive in those moments especially final third entries could’ve hurt them.

“It’s one of those if you’re working with the team of youngsters, they don’t capitalise but today we could’ve scored three or four goals but it wasn’t to be.

“A difficult team as a I said, they came into this game having nothing to lose and now it’s always going to be difficult to play against this team that’s got nothing to gain or lose because they’ve already secured the spot in the Confederation Cup. But I’ll always give credit to the players, they gave their all but it wasn’t to be."

With the season concluding next weekend, Usuthu lauded their support-base for always having their back.

“Look, we appreciate them, appreciate their support, they have been there through thick and thin and never gave up on us. Pity, we did not give them a good present the last game which was supposed to be three points at least get a draw at home, I hate to lose at home.

“But it’s one of those things, we can learn, we just going to wait for the next game and see how it goes."
