AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has set his sights on silverware come the 2026/27 campaign, having guided the side to a top-five finish this season.

The Durban-based outfit suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in their penultimate match of the season at Moses Mabhida Stadium last weekend.

Despite the result, they look set to finish in the top five this season, with only a single point separating them from fifth-placed Sekhukhune United.

The current log standing is a far cry from the team that was languishing in 15th place when Zwane and Vusimuzi Vilakazi took over as co-coaches back in 2024.

Although a return to continental football is now out of reach, at least as far as next season is concerned, silverware will be on the agenda. His conviction is further strengthened by Durban City's triumph in the Nedbank Cup.

"Look, I think as a team we are growing in stature. Every team would want to win a cup. I believe we had the opportunity to go all the way to the semi-finals and finals of the Nedbank Cup," Zwane said post-match on Saturday.

“We did not capitalise on that. Durban City managed to win it. So, already they’ve put every team in KZN now to at least fight for cups and win something next season.

"So, it’s a good competition. And like any other coach as well, I’m a very ambitious coach. I play to win. I’m a winner myself; that’s my belief. Because I don’t think I would have been here if I were not a winner.

“And because the game is a teacher, we make a lot of mistakes and try to rectify them rather than focus on crucifying. We try to look for solutions and try to improve ourselves.

"So, we will try our level best. So yeah, we want to win something in the future as a club.

AmaZulu face Durban City in their final game of the season at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.
