Having failed to score from their 19 corner kicks against Durban City, Abdeslam Ouaddou has responded to questions on whether it is something Orlando Pirates should be worried about.

Pirates take on Magesi FC in their final match of the season at a sold-out Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

They need a victory to win the league, as they are currently two points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have finished their Betway Premiership campaign.

This do-or-die situation is as a result of failing to collect three points at home against Durban City last weekend.

On the day, they overwhelmed their opposition with 77% of ball possession, eight shots on target, and a massive 19 corners. Yet, it all counted for nothing as they were unable to break through a resilient defensive structure.

This is a struggle that the men in Black and White also faced against Casric Stars in their Nedbank Cup Last 16 exit as well as in the second-round league fixture against Siwelele FC.

"If you can check the data now, Pirates is one of the best teams in either defending set-pieces or attacking set-pieces," noted Ouaddou, speaking at the post-match press conference at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

"It means that we’ve worked hard as the technical team in that area.

"But still, there’s a large area to improve. When you have that many set-pieces and don’t manage to score at least one goal, it means that we still have a lot of work to be done.

"People think that it’s the height of the players that contributes to converting set-pieces, but I think it’s the timing, judging the flight of the ball, and aggressiveness to convert.

"There are many factors contributing to this area," he pointed out.

It will be interesting what kind of formation Bucs will be up against this weekend, with Orbit needing to come out and play for a result in order to survive relegation.
