The Iranian squad’s training base and secure hotel are just a one-minute drive from the crime scene. The team has been escorted by armed soldiers since arriving in Mexico, and the investigation remains strictly handled by the Tijuana Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities have stated there is no immediate evidence suggesting the Iranian football delegation was the target of the homicide, though the grim discovery has heightened security protocols around the camp.
A source from the local police told AFP, “During the vehicle search, we found one body wrapped in a black bag inside the trunk. Signs of assault were confirmed on the body.”
Forensic investigators wearing white protective suits examined the scene and collected evidence before removing the body. The Tijuana Attorney General’s Office said patrol officers had identified the suspicious vehicle.
