Morocco harbors ambitions of winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Moroccan international Chadi Riad said in an interview with the Spanish sports daily AS.
The Atlas Lions are entering the fray with lofty ambitions and a strong desire to secure their first world title, said the Crystal Palace defender, noting that the national team continues to make steady progress thanks to the quality of its squad.
“Today, our only goal is to win the title,” the 22-year-old player said, adding that “if we don’t believe in ourselves, no one else will.” In his words, representing the national team is what he enjoys most about football. “Playing in a World Cup is an extraordinary experience.”
When asked about the tournament’s favorites, he said that the Atlas Lions remain focused on their own objectives, adopting an approach centered on taking each match as it comes and preparing thoroughly for every game.
Having trained notably at FC Barcelona and later played for Real Betis, Chadi Riad, who won the UEFA Conference League this season with his English club Crystal Palace, praised the unwavering support of Moroccan fans, whom he considers among the most passionate in the world.
