Atlético Madrid are open to the idea of parting ways with Ademola Lookman just months after signing him from Atalanta, with the La Liga giants placing a valuation of around €50 million (approximately N79 billion in Nigerian currency) on the Super Eagles forward, according to Spanish transfer market website Fichajes.
The former African Footballer of the Year arrived in Spain with considerable expectations following an impressive spell in Italy, where he established himself as one of Atalanta's most decisive attacking players.
Known for his pace, direct running, and versatility across the front line, Lookman was viewed as a smart addition to Diego Simeone’s squad, offering creativity and depth in the final third.
However, his adaptation to Simeone’s demanding tactical system has not gone as smoothly as anticipated.
The Atlético coach places heavy emphasis on defensive discipline, work rate without the ball, and tactical structure, areas where Lookman has yet to fully convince.
Lookman recorded 13 goal involvements (9 goals, 4 assists) from twenty-four appearances across all competitions in the second half of last season.
Amid speculation surrounding his future, he withdrew from the Nigeria squad for the June internationals against Poland and Portugal.
