Brighton want Luka Vuskovic 'compromise' as £60m Tottenham transfer decision made
Brighton are not willing to pay Tottenham Hotspur's £60million asking price for centre-back Luka Vuskovic, sources have told Football Insider.
The Seagulls have already seen a £30m offer knocked back by the Lilywhites, who are trying to drive the price up as much as possible.
The North London outfit ideally want to keep the 19-year-old starlet, but it is understood that Brighton are offering him a quicker pathway to regular first-team football.
Brighton are working to strike a "compromise" with Spurs for the deal to go through at a cut-price fee, as they see a £60m deal as being too far-fetched.
Vuskovic has also been subject to interest from the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich in recent weeks, but could yet be a Premier League regular next term.
Brighton are working to get a deal for him in place, but are determined not to rise as high as £60m with their offers.
Football Insider revealed on Monday that Brighton are preparing a new and "improved" offer for Vuskovic, as they continue their efforts to prise him away from Spurs.
The South Coast outfit have identified the Croatian as their "top target" for the summer window, and are working hard to bring him in.
There is a growing belief that the starlet would prefer to play his football at the Amex Stadium for the next stage of his career.
Brighton's pursuit of the young defender is closely linked to Spurs' efforts to sign Jan Paul van Hecke, and it is understood that one deal could potentially provide the trigger for the other to go through.
Tottenham have seen two offers rejected for the Dutchman already, who is valued at around the £70m mark.
They continue to view Vuskovic as a key part of their long-term plans, but the player's camp have doubts over their vision for him.
Football Insider revealed last weekend that Tottenham's third bid for Van Hecke is now "imminent."
The Lilywhites are expected to up their offering to around the £55m mark, after they saw their first two offers rejected.
The capital club are determined to get their pursuit over the line, with the player also keen to move and reunite with Roberto De Zerbi this summer.
Van Hecke has been a clear target for Spurs for several weeks, but a deal for him could come at the cost of losing Vuskovic.
